Hello and thank you for stopping by the KD7IC repeater web site. I would like to start off by giving you information regarding both repeater systems.

The 145.270 machine is an RCA 700, an older VHF base station business radio that was converted over to the 144-148 MHz spectrum by John-KF8KK, an engineer friend from Michigan -(2nd pic down on the right bottom). It was crystalled and tuned for 67/27 some years ago and used as a back up for the W8TVC/R in Traverse City, MI. Being not in use for so many years, John put it back in service by offering it to me in November-07. I do have this system is PL'ed for 162.2, I still have little problems with the decoder, so it is still "Open" UFN. This rig runs at about 10 watts with a Mirage repeater amp and Astron 50A pushing 73 watts into a Diamond F22A up on the east tower leg at 95 ft. being fed with LDF5-50A The CAT300 controller runs the system as efficient as I can possibly program it to at this time. It works!

Back in March-08, I was approved to put up a 450 machine on Mormon Mt. (444.600/449.600) from the Frequency Coordinator in Phoenix. So I purchased a GE Mastr II from a seller in Oregon that was converted. This system's output is only 38 watts, and being controlled by a Arcom RC-210 controller, which has linking capabilities to the 2 Meter system. The 450 Andrew antenna is mounted on the north-west leg, at 100 ft. being fed with LDF5-50A feedline. I have set up a PL tone of 162.2 so not to disturb the SARC WB7TJD repeater in east Mesa, AZ.

The location for these systems came about when I started acquiring a home for my idea with my job's "Powers that Be". To my surprise, the answer was "SURE". I was thinking of the Mt. Elden or Devil's Head site, but after analyzing the noise floor with a spectrum analyzer, I found that Mormon was a tad better, plus I wanted to cover more of the Williams-Winslow-Verde Valley corridor.

A lot of Ham's love HF, and so do I, but I find more enjoyment with local folks in Arizona. So I put up a VHF and UHF system for all of us "Local Folks" to enjoy. I do realize that there are a bunch of repeaters already in use in North-Central Arizona, but it is more fun when you have a choice of machine you want to talk on. So with that said, Please ENJOY 145.270 & 449.600. Enough of my babble.. my fingers are getting horse. Use these systems as much as you want. No club-No dues, maybe a Bar-B-Que here and there! That's what Renegade Radio is... FREE!
